1 Million Steps!

Many of you will know that I have Type 1 Diabetes. It's something I talk about regularly. So I've decided to take on a 'little' challenge to raise funds for diabetes research and (hopefully) a cure for Type 1.

I remember my diagnosis day as clear as anything - it was Feb 14th 1996, and I had been at school. We were watching Oliver Twist and all of a sudden I vomited all over. Now, I'd not been well for some time but this? This was nasty. My nana picked me up from school and took me to the doctors - my GP took one look at me and said "she has type 1 diabetes and needs a hospital". The rest is history - 29 years later I'm still here and still kicking.

Diabetes research is so important to me. I was told when I was diagnosed that there would be a cure within 10 years, but here we are. I'm taking part in the million step challenge to raise funds to help with this important research, to help find a cure and to help others with diabetes get the support they deserve. It's not an easy thing to live with - constantly thinking about numbers, worrying about lows and highs, carb counting, injecting, changing infusion sites, hospital visits, anxiety, lugging around supplies...

Let's help find a cure so that those in the future don't have to go though all of this.

Diabetes UK are one of the foremost charity working to help those with diabetes, both Type 1 and Type 2, and create a world where Diabetes can do no harm. From a personal perspective, I know how difficult it can be to live with so I'm aiming to help people not have to go through what my family and I did all those years ago.

I know times are tough, but please do consider donating if you can. Every little helps towards the goal, and even sharing the link will help massively.
